Flinging

Today was full of fun/learning. We had four little boys come over to join Owen to solve the Junior First Lego League Challenge. Of course, they brought their sisters for Bridget's Girls' Club. The boys came up with some really good ideas for their project. It is amazing how much they know about energy and power and even more amazing how quickly they learn. After 90 minutes of brainstorming and driving lego cars off the edge of the dining room table, the boys decided they really wanted a project that 'flung things'. E (aka Lego League Coach) says they have a really good idea for flinging legos representing water. I personally can't wait to see what they build.


So, Owen has flinging things on his mind today. It was one of those days... We're sitting at the dining room table eating and he decides to use his forearm like a catapult and fling his balled-up napkin. I asked him kindly to stop and told him if he would like to fling things that we can build a real catapult and fling some marshmallows. Of course, he wanted to do it right that moment. So we started discussing what we could use to build it. Within 20 minutes we were flinging marshmallows across the room. Our first attempt was rather inaccurate. The closest we got to shooting it in someone's mouth was one that hit Owen square in the eye. He roared with laughter and called it a 'bull's eye'. "get it?" he says, "eye, bull's eye." He really thinks he's quite the comedian.
