Last week was definitely a flowing week. Monday, Bridget and Owen opened a store in Owen's bedroom. The put price tags on everything. Arranged things in aisles, got out their money so they could make change, and painted this sign.Later, they decided they wanted to send a letter to their friends to invite them over. I showed them the proper format, capitalization, punctuation and how to write an envelope. They did beautifully. I never dreamed my unschooling kids would want to learn how to write a letter properly, but they did!
Tuesday, we went to the children's theater. The kids really enjoyed the performance. Afterward, we met some new friends who offered to teach us how to play the Pokemon card game. We had tried reading the directions several times, but it didn't really feel right. After an hour of practice play, we are all enjoying a new game. That evening, I came home and taught E how to play. Owen could not resist helping E with his strategy. He actually came up with some really good ideas. Ever since then, he has been studying all his cards so he can create the 'Ulitmate Deck'.
Wednesday was our Girl Scout meeting. We got our confirmation for camp in the mail. So we had exciting news to share. We played a game from the Philippines called Tapatan. It's like Tic Tac Toe, except you use three coins. Once all three of your coins are on the board, you just move them one at a time when it is your turn, to try to get three in a row. It was actually kind of challenging. The girls enjoyed it. Next, We talked about how the strength of a piece of paper changes as you fold it. We built paper bridges to see whose could hold the most coins. It was a fun meeting and we earned a Try It.
Thursday, we watched a friend of ours. We went to lunch, then to the park. We played on the playground, dug in the sand, took a pedal boat ride and had some ice cream. We saw a swan on the lake. It was so cool. It raised it wings like two big sails and let the wind glide it across the water.
Friday we went rollerskating. The kids haven't been for quite a while. We did some ice skating over the winter, but four wheels is a little different. They had a hard time at first, but they eventually got used to it. We talked about getting them some used rollerblades for the summer. I think that would make skating much easier. We could even take them with us to the park or bike trail. Now, we just need to find some time to go and get them.
Saturday, I had orientation for GS camp, so E had the kids all morning. Owen has been a little restless since we put the kibosh on playing in the mud in the back yard. Last week, Owen made a dam in my garden...
several days in a row. Well, each time, no matter how hard I tried, both kids tracked tons of mud all over the house. Anyway, Owen wanted to build another dam, so I suggested he use playdoh. They started with playdoh then moved on to Legos in the bathtub. 
He used plastic wrap to get a good seal. His block and roll set provided a very good path for the water.Saturday night, Bridget asked if we could have some mommy/daughter time. So I took her to the drive in. We had a very nice bonding time. Owen said he really enjoyed his time with daddy as well.
Sunday was a progress day. The kids had been wanting a few things from the store. They had allowance money and wanted to buy pokemon cards and nail polish. Then E went to the home store to get some building materials for Bridget's room. We moved her into her new room, but we haven't made a place for her dress up clothes yet. E got started with a little rack to hang her clothes.
